A "dry port" is being actively built in the Vinnytsia region, which will become an important logistics hub for cargo transportation. This infrastructure project, with a total cost of $15 million, will help strengthen the connection of the central regions of Ukraine with Odessa sea ports, as well as establish transport routes to EU countries through the container terminal in Mostyska. Information about this was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia, Andriy Ocheretny, on his Facebook page.
The creation of this railway terminal is aimed at accelerating the processes of transportation and handling of goods, which contributes to the increase of the country's export and import potential. The port will become a key link in the transport chain, connecting Odessa ports with Europe through Mostyska.
Construction began in the spring of 2024. The first stage includes the construction of railway infrastructure and the first container site, which will be capable of handling up to 30 thousand TEU per year. In addition, a container warehouse for 2,000 TEU will be built.
Part of the infrastructure has already been completed: railway tracks have been installed, a weighing system has been installed, and a warehouse with an area of 3.5 thousand square meters has been built.
The opening of the "dry port" is planned for the third quarter of 2024. About 100 jobs are expected to be created, 50 of which are at the first stage.
For reference: the Mostyska container terminal, known as the Mostyska Dry Port, handled over 72.4 thousand TEU in 2023. The total volume of cargo, including general, bulk and liquid cargo, reached 286 thousand tons. In 2023, the company invested more than UAH 100 million in modernization, and deductions to the budgets of Ukraine amounted to UAH 27.66 million.
