Renault is expanding its circular economy with the launch of THE REMAKERS, which will remanufacture automotive parts at its Flins Refactory. The new initiative promises to be an important milestone for the entire automotive industry.
"The creation of THE REMAKERS opens a new chapter and excellent prospects for growth. We aim to grow our business by 50% by 2030. The Future Is NEUTRAL is the first circular economy automotive company covering the entire value chain in Europe," says Raphael Treger, CEO of THE REMAKERS.
THE REMAKERS uses know-how accumulated since 1949 and widely recognized in the market. Their mission is to restore automotive components to equivalent to new quality by combining remanufactured and new parts. Now this experience will be available to the entire automotive industry, according to The Future Is NEUTRAL strategy.
The company's growth is supported by a €500 million investment plan until 2030. The European spare parts market is dynamic and has high development potential. In 2022, its volume was approximately 6.8 billion euros, and by 2030 it is expected to grow to 8.2 billion euros. This is due to the aging of the vehicle fleet and the acceleration of electrification.
The name THE REMAKERS emphasizes the collective experience and skills acquired over time. The prefix "RE" symbolizes the circular economy and emphasizes the connection with the Renault Group and Refactory, while "THE" links with The Future Is NEUTRAL. THE REMAKERS parts offer a greener and more economical alternative: they save raw materials, energy and water, and reduce CO2 emissions compared to producing new parts. Moreover, they are 30% cheaper than new ones.
THE REMAKERS range includes 9 product lines and more than 11,000 parts: mechanical (engines, gearboxes, turbochargers), electrical (electric motors, power electronics) and electronic (multimedia systems). The company is committed to accelerating the release of new parts to market, especially to support hybrid and electric vehicles. In March 2024, THE REMAKERS will present Europe's first electric vehicle engine remanufacturing, as well as power electronics projects with the support of experienced players.
