Volkswagen is facing the need to recall about 120,000 ID.4 electric vehicles manufactured in the United States. The reason is that the doors can open spontaneously, which creates a safety risk.
The main problem is the design of the electric door handles. As experts have found out, in some cases water can get into the electrical system of the door mechanism, which leads to unintentional unlocking. This circumstance creates a serious threat, especially while the car is moving.

Volkswagen representatives say that to date there have been no recorded cases of accidents or injuries associated with this problem. However, the manufacturer is taking measures to solve this problem. It is planned to check and, if necessary, replace the door handles on new cars. In addition, a software update will be installed to eliminate the possibility of a failure.
The company emphasizes that the development of new parts and software is still ongoing, so the deadlines for completing the work are not announced. Volkswagen recommends that ID.4 owners contact authorized dealers as soon as possible for diagnostics and troubleshooting of possible faults.
